“…I first discovered my love for photography when I was 12 years old and got my first Kodak camera with 4 megapixels. My love for photography grew, and I went on to study it for two years after high school.”

Firstly, tell us a little about your photography journey and how you became the exceptional wedding photographer you are.

I first discovered my love for photography when I was 12 years old and got my first Kodak camera with 4 megapixels. My love for photography grew, and I went on to study it for two years after high school. I never planned on weddings until an old friend asked me to do her wedding. I had two years to learn and decided to try it. I instantly fell in love with wedding photography and have been working as a wedding photographer ever since. With my wife's support, I could focus on my business and grow it over the years. I've been a wedding photographer for 8 years and have loved the journey. I am constantly growing and meeting beautiful humans in love, and I think that's pretty special.

What drew you into the world of wedding photography?

I was learning to photograph a friend's wedding and maybe do it as a side gig. It ended up being something I really loved, and I made it my full-time career.

How would you describe your style of wedding photography?

Colourful, Joy-Filled, Relaxed, Natural, Fun.

We're sure you get inundated with booking requests, so what are some things you specifically look for? Those things that make a couple stand out to you?... the enquiries that make you think, "I really want to shoot this wedding!"

When couples talk about wanting a fun and relaxed day, and when I know they just want an extraordinary celebration of their love. That's the best.

Do you have a specific style of wedding that you just LOVE to photograph?

I live on a farm, so I am a sucker for anything farm-like or private property weddings, but on the contrary, I love anything urban and unique too.

We know couples can be a little nervous about their wedding photography; what are some tips you offer couples to stay relaxed and enjoy the moment?

I always tell my couples that I will ask them some quirky questions, and the two of them will answer each other and that this creates some natural banter between them where I ninja around and capture as it unfolds.

Share with us some wedding moments that you've experienced that stand out for you.

There have been a few recent weddings where they are a blended family, and it's so special when the children make a speech to their step-parent and have such beautiful things to say. I think those moments are something so wonderful to be a part of. Something else that always stands out to me is when the couple's witnesses sign the paperwork. I keep a close eye on the couple and how they interact. It's their first little moment to themselves since the ceremony started, and it's beautiful to watch them connect.

What are some ways you work with couples to ensure that their wedding photos truly reflect them?

I am good at reading people, and I'm a social person, so I find it easy to bring out people's personalities and let that shine through their images. I encourage people to be themselves, and if I can see they don't feel right or something is off, I'll make sure we change it up so that they feel more at ease. I want my clients to look back and see themselves in their photos, not as magazine models.

Give us your NUMBER ONE piece of wedding planning advice.

Do what you want to do. Don't do what others want/expect you to do. It's your wedding; there are no rules, do whatever makes you happy. I am in full support.

And finally, where can couples find you? Do you travel all over Australia?

I am based in Melbourne, VIC and cover all over the state. I can definitely travel all across Australia. I've photographed weddings in QLD before and would love to expand across other states.
