You may have your heart set on an abundance of cascading Poppies, or perhaps you want to say 'I Do' under an arch of Blossom.

We've sought advice from 4 leading florists to give you a rundown on each season, and what you can expect to find in the garden when your wedding day comes around.

"If you're getting married in the height of summer, especially if your ceremony is outside, dried flowers and lots of foliage mixed with fresh roses and orchids would be our suggestions," says Caroline of Melbourne based floral studio The Flower District. "Both roses and orchids do extremely well in the heat, and not as prone to wilting as much as other seasonal flowers," Caroline goes on to tell us.

Some of the seasons most popular blooms are:

  • Dahlias

  • Daisies

  • David Austin Roses

  • Hydrangeas

  • Phalaenopsis Orchids

  • Roses

When it comes to Autumn, think warm tones and loads of Autumn foliage. With the cooling down of the weather in Autumn, flowers aren't as readily in bloom as they are in Spring and Summer, but the options are still to die for.

To create this magical display for a recent Autumn wedding, Jessie from Ruby + James have used the following varieties which are all available throughout the autumn months.

  • Garden roses

  • Magnolia leaves

  • Autumn leaves (in terracotta's, reds + deep burgundy)

  • Cosmos

  • Persimmons

  • Roseberry

  • Amaranthus

"Rely on loads of texture, and interesting foliage’s for movement and drama," says Jess from Sassafras Weddings. "Use local blooms where possible, but also great quality roses, orchids and even peony in winter months".

Jess suggests:

  • Cymbidium Orchids

  • Roses

  • Spray Roses

  • Carnations

  • Stock

  • Wired in succulent florets (from a plant)

  • Thryptomene

As the weather 'springs' back to life, so does an incredible array of flowers. "Spring is such an exciting and vibrant season for weddings as we really are spoilt for choice with an abundance of in-season blooms to choose from. Think ranunculus, poppies, sweet pea and blossoms…just some of the much-loved flowers exclusive to this season,” says Bloom Boy.

Here Bloom Boy uses:

  • Ranunculus

  • Poppies

  • Wax Flower

  • Wattle

  • Grevillea

  • Blossom

  • Garden Roses
