“…We see weddings moving forward to be the epitome of quality over quantity, which reflects our brand DNA perfectly. ”

There is no denying that we at THEODORE love exactly what the girls from Giannarelli International conceive; as you’d be aware, we’ve featured their work numerous times. But now that we’re emerging into an entirely new wedding sphere, how exactly will weddings look? And how do the Giannarelli crew plan on styling weddings in this post-Covid wedding landscape?

You may have already seen many predictions being thrown around as to how exactly weddings might look; will they be larger? Perhaps they’ll be smaller and more intimate? But one thing we definitely know is that couples are feeling the freedom now more than ever to create and plan a wedding day that is an accurate representation of themselves and their love story.

Giannarelli International have been at the forefront of some pretty impressive weddings internationally, having worked alongside some world-famous talent, including renowned florist Jeff Leatham and worldwide Photographer Robert Fairer and have planned events attended by royalty themselves. So being amongst the best of the best, these two certainly know a thing or two about weddings.

We chat with the team about how they imagine weddings will evolve moving forward.

Let’s start by asking you the question that most people seem to be curious about… How do you predict weddings will look now that we’re moving into a post-pandemic landscape?

We actually think that Covid has brought a new crossroads for weddings, a new and exciting turn to the events industry. It’s made us all realise what’s important and keeping it intimate is the way to go. We really think that weddings and the event industry as a whole has been turned on it’s head for the last two years, for the better bringing light to what’s important. Why are people getting married in the first place? To celebrate love, and that’s exactly what we like to focus on.

The truth is, as much as we were told that it wasn’t, our industry is essential! The demand for venues, churches, photographers, etc, are being booked up to 2025, showing us that we’re all not just an essential service but that people have persisted and held on and will always want to celebrate this special day in their lives!

On a personal note, how do you intend to envision weddings moving forward?

We see weddings moving forward to be the epitome of quality over quantity, which reflects our brand DNA perfectly. Intimate moments, high-end event decor/ tableware (from Lusso Event Hire of course) and bespoke details. Reducing the size of weddings and making them more intimate actually leaves more budget for these finer details which may not have always been possible due to larger guest counts.

Give us your predictions in the sense of style for summer 2022 and into 2023?

Our prediction is to turn wedding decor on its head and make every event full of LIFE. If the past two years have taught us anything it's that you’ve got to be bold and live for the day and that's exactly what we see in the wedding industry trends.

Daring colours, being fun and eccentric, embracing individuality and unapologetically going BOLD. For all of our couples who have postponed more than 2, 3 or 4 times, we say bring it on with a bang and go big or go home!

Walk us through your ideal wedding set-up; how would you style a wedding if you had free rein to do whatever you could?

We could tell you but then it's giving it all away isn’t it ;) Free reign would include working with the world's top florists, photographers and production teams. (Which we’ve done many although we’ve still got a few on our bucket list!) Our clients usually give us free rein and trust us to do whatever we feel suits them best and that's all in the fun of it. We love surprising our clients on the day and taking their breath away!! There is nothing more rewarding.

And finally, what are some big lessons you’ve taken away from the last 2 years? And how has this changed your way of planning and styling weddings?

We’ve learnt that if you can’t go with the flow and adapt you won’t survive. Adapting to the times whatever they may be is one of the most important lessons we have learnt. Whether it has been becoming part-time therapists with our clients and working through every single change and going through the emotions with them, or cancelling immense amounts of florals for another Covid wedding change. Basically, if you can’t adapt you won’t survive. We always try to remember that there is always a solution to everything, sticking together as a team will never allow you to fail.
